Check out my review of the game here: XCOM: Enemy Unknown review
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is one of those strategy games that’s simultaneously great and horrible. On one hand, it’s a streamlined version of the original XCOM that’s supposedly aimed at eliminating its frustrating/tedious elements. On the other hand, it creates plenty of frustrating and tedious moments of its own thanks to weird bugs and poor pacing. While overall I liked it, I can’t help but think that I’d have liked it far less if there were more games like it out there. Is it a decent game, or are there just so few games like it that it has no competition to put it to shame?
Either way, it’s seriously buggy and that can’t be stressed enough. In fact, this is easily the buggiest game I’ve ever played in my entire life. The screenshots even back this up—midway through the game, my resolution randomly switched. I didn’t even notice until I went through the screenshots after finishing.
