Wasteland 2 is exhausting. Between its inconsistent difficulty, weird rules, uneven pacing, buggy quests, and the fact that a lot of the late-game content is legitimately fun despite all of those problems, it’s a roller coaster of good and bad that alternates between the two as rapidly as a strobe light. Overall, the game’s decent enough, but there are far too many nagging little issues for it to be in the same pantheon as the early Fallout games (which this reminds me the most of despite the original Wasteland having been the inspiration for Fallout). It’s certainly nowhere near as brilliant a return to old-school design as Divinity: Original Sin proved to be.
