Breath of Fire 3 Screenshots

Expecting to like a game because you liked its previous incarnations is just stupid, and yet I found myself with those very stupid expectations when I decided to try Breath of Fire 3. Long story short, the game is a mess and those who like it most likely only do so because of nostalgia. The pacing is all wrong, the most unique feature from the first two games is missing, the characters are abominable, the translation is just as bad as in Breath of Fire 2 (while missing the same kind of charm and weirdness), and the whole thing is just a slog through an exhausting number of random encounters to get into a plot that’s barely comprehensible at its best. I’m somewhat prone to nostalgia about the first two BoF games, and there’s really nothing I can do about that, but I can think of many ways in which they’re objectively better than the train wreck that is Breath of Fire 3.
